My name is DEBBIE MCDERMOTT. I was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and developed a great love for books and writing when I was still at school. I met and married my husband, Sean, in 1990 and worked with him on several ventures. We emigrated from Zimbabwe to New Zealand in 2006 and settled in Waiuku, South Auckland with our two sons, Daniel and Peter. I relocated to Havelock North in 2019 after my children moved out of home.
I became a Kiwi citizen in 2012 and have been involved with NZ Christian Writers since 2007 in a variety of roles including being Board Member and Magazine Editor (2010-2019); Level One Competition Judge (2011-present); Competition Coordinator (2019-present); Proofreader (2019-present); and Hawkes Bay Writers Group Coordinator (2021-present). I have published two novels—Voyage of the Redeemed in 2010; And the Lion Roared No More in 2018. Currently, I am working on the sequel to my second book as well as a series of devotionals called Insights to Greater Heights while completing final year studies towards a Bachelor of Theology. My passion is for mentoring and helping others become the best they can be.
